  Using Nouns as Adjectives
Understanding and Using Nouns as Adjectives:

You already know the basic form of using adjectives.
Example: It is a beautiful day.
She is a kind and loving person.
There is another form of adjective that can also be used: nouns as adjectives. We usually think of nouns as only the words adjectives modify but they can also act as adjectives.
Example: He owns a shoe store.
They are mountain climbers.
Both of these words are nouns but the underlined word is also an adjective. This is how we can use nouns as adjectives.
When a noun is an adjective it is always in a singular form - never plural.
Try the following quiz to test your understanding and ability to use nouns as adjectives.
